Choose a layer cake overflowing with florals. The basket blocks are entirely layer cake friendly with almost no waste at all. Display your prettiest fabric on the baskets using 2 1/2″ squares. The remainder of 1/2” x 2 1/2” strips and 1” x 4 1/2” strips is leftover to add to your scrap stash. The florals are so pretty, the scraps are sure to be used up in no time.

12 pretty scalloped handles are cut out and secured using fusible web. Once the handles have all been cut, the remaining fabric strips are used for the baskets and border.

The stems are quick and easy to make using fusible web, or if you chose, use a bias tape maker. Now, it’s time to fill your baskets. Cut out the pretty blooms and position with fusible web. Embellish with buttons. The quilt top comes together quickly. A colorful scrappy border is the perfect finish. This pretty quilt lights up the whole room and brings in the Spring sunshine.
