Meadowsweet Fabric Destash Quilt

String Quilting Is Perfect To Reduce Scrap Stash

String quilts are fun putting small strips of fabric together. Eye catching colors start to emerge on scrap pieces that seemed quite lifeless in the scrap bag. Throw out a pile and start putting together your own combination!

Using Meadowsweet fabrics provides a happy vibrancy for a pretty string quilt. A strip of white pops the beautiful florals. Put together blocks using a collection, or make it scrappy.

For the blocks to finish at 12″, Tina from Seaside Stitches, used a 3″ pieced strip, plus 1″ strips of white, then then 5″ squares cut on the diagonal for the corner triangles. Fabrics for Tina’s block is  Meadowsweet, or find similar fabrics are perfect for this project and choose your own combination.

Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville provides a great tutorial sewing with strings using an old sheet as the foundation fabric! Or use foundation paper. Old phone book pages works really well as  soft paper tears away quite easily. Quilts are unique, they’re fun to sew, as each creative block starts to shine.
