Nesting Gathered Round Baskets Hold Buttons And Sewing Accessories
Sweet Fabric Baskets Are Easy To Make
Spring is in the air and it’s a great time to freshen up the sewing room. Stitch up these gathered fabric baskets using up scraps from Spring projects and left over fabrics. They’re pretty in colorful blooms, strawberries, and ginghams!
A one hour project will have three new baskets for the sewing room. A good time to sort buttons, roll up bindings, and gather embellishments. These basket are the perfect size for a collection of most sewing accessories. They show off pretty prints too.
The baskets can be made in any size, are fully reversible, and are useful for so many things. Adhesive batting together with a gathered top edge make the baskets sturdy. Simply sew a gathering stitch around the perimeter of the circle, and pull the two ends of thread on the wrong side. The fabric will gather along the thread.
The baskets, designed by Lisa and Sarah of A Spoonful Of Sugar Designs, measure 12 inches in circumference when gathered. Make a set of three baskets that nest inside each other when not in use. A lovely gift for anyone since the baskets can be used for anything around the home. The basket can also be used to package a gift. Fill with chocolate eggs!
