The tutorial suggests making a bag with 8 1/2″ by 8 1/2″ squares, while Carrie Nelson from Moda’s Blog mentioned going ahead and using a layer cake, quick and easy using pre-cuts. Whichever size you choose they make adorable gift pouches in any fabric. Carrie also mentions adding a layer of lightweight fusible interfacing such as Pellon 206F. Carrie suggests:
To add the interfacing, cut a square 5/8″ smaller than the size of the fabric square – a 9-3/8″ square of interfacing for the layer cake square. The interfacing is centered on the wrong side of the outer-fabric and fused to the fabric.
