This fun baby quilt uses just one layer cake. The quilt just bubbles with floral lemonade fun and pinwheel lollipops. Fabric selection is much easier using layer cakes or fat quarter bundles. Then simply put the quilt together having fun with pinwheel blocks and lemonade sashing! Lay out your pinwheel blocks and re-arrange colors and textures until you love it.

 

 

This quilt is perfect as a lap quilt too. The bright pinwheels add a splash of color to the room and will lift anyone’s spirits!

 

Layer cakes are pre-cut so spending less time on cutting, leaves more time for creating. Yes! Or else if there’s sufficient in your stash to get the right color coordinates, simply cut 10′ x 10′ squares. The quilt comes together quickly with 9 large blocks, and looks great with any fabric. Prints come alive framed with white fabric adding a fresh crisp feel, and pinwheels pop.

 

Pinwheels can be tricky, and especially as a beginner, it may take a little practice. However the designer, Sue Pfau of Sweet Jane Quilts, has provided some great tips to practice and perfect your pinwheels. Pattern instruction include making the pinwheels a little bigger, and then you cut them to size helping you create perfect pinwheels!

Soft pastel colors are so pretty, although some new moms may like a more modern look. This baby quilt can be made to match the nursery decor, versatile enough to fit into a range of nursery colors.

 

With skill level beginner, and some basic sewing skills this baby quilt is just lovely to make, especially if using pre-cuts. For an experienced quilter, pure fun!
