One Layer Cake For This Chez Moi Chevron Baby Quilt
A Layer Cake Plus a Little Yardage To Make This Easy Peasy Baby Quilt.
This chevron baby quilt is supposed to be hip for a young mom and it turned out just beautiful. Using an easy chevron for the front and a 5″ square patchwork for the back, makes a colorful reversible quilt. One layer cake for the front is quick and easy, plus yardage for the white, or else use a white solid layer cake to save time cutting. Your chevron baby quilt will be sewn up in no time.
Soft pinks and lilacs in solids and florals, with splashes of sunshine yellow make the most charming baby girl quilts. To make the chevron all that is need are 10″ squares in color and 10″ squares of solid white, make up the block with half square triangles and arrange to form the zig zag.
The quilt top requires just one layer cake, or 12 x 10″ squares, plus less than a half yard of white. The colors are perfect for a baby girl and you might have just the right fabric tucked away. Using yardage of mixed colors works just as well, cutting up 12 x 10″ squares is quick and easy. Less than 1/2 yard of white makes up the other 12 x 10″ squares, and that’s it, the top is done.
Make the quilt larger by adding extra chevrons. For the super easy patchwork backing, use a layer cake. Sew two squares right sides together, and slice into four squares, giving you four pairs of 5″ squares.
A gorgous girly quilt, add a flower applique for extra charm. It’s easy to machine applique the flower on.
