Rhubarb Pie Quilt Easy With Sixteen Patch Squares
Fat Quarter Friendly Rhubarb Pie Quilt Is Made Up Of Two Colors.
It’s hard to imagine this pretty Rhubarb Pie quilt is made of only two colors, and created with sixteen patch blocks. It looks so complicated, but when you see how the 2 1/2 ” squares are put together in the sixteen patch block it becomes much more achievable. The design is fat quarter friendly and the mix of light and dark tones of two colors make a fantastic swirl of color. It really does relate to Rhubarb pie when you see the mingle of pink and green blends.
Build 16 patch squares, some all green, some all pink, and some with alternating green and pink. Although the call is for two colors, a mix of medium and dark tones give the design a rich tone and more depth. Use light and dark fat quarters to add depth and texture as in the pattern image. While the sixteen patch is quite easy, a little spent on the color values pay off big time.
Pink and green are the two colors originally displayed for this quilt, perfect for the Rhubarb Pie theme. It’s very pretty with a bit of a vintage modern feel. The design is so effective that any two color values would make this quilt a stunner. Imagine aqua blue and magenta in medium and low value squares. Once you’ve chosen your colors follow the pattern and have fun placing the colors on your design board. The design will emerge as the blocks are positioned. A sixteen patch is one of the easiest blocks to place color. I love it.
The Rhubarb Pie quilt pattern provides two sizes. A throw, finished size 56″ x 56″, requiring 7 fat quarters of each color, a total of 14 fat quarters.
