Inspiring designs like this braided star by Kim Diehl are not as difficult as it seems. The cover quilt of Kims Book, ‘Simple Christmas Tidings’ is a showstopper and you’ll have all the fun creatively changing fabric and colorways to create an entirely different braid.

 

This pattern is on the cover of the book, but the block looks quite different due to color placement. Put together fabric, or even scraps, that work well, and start planning the layout to capture the effect.

From beginner to master quilter, Kim’s book has a mixture of projects, some pretty scrappy and/ or applique quilts, but also very ‘Christmassy’ items as well as ornaments, and Snowmen Schenanigans! The nice part about the book is that nearly every project, besides the Christmas stockings, is not exclusive to Christmas. Just change the fabric.
