Each Sail Boat Features A Different Quilt Block

Pieced sailboats make a charming and scrappy nautical quilt. This sea themed design is a perfect summer throw for the living room, or a beautiful touch to a sea themed nursery.

 

There are 4 different boats in diagonal rows. One that has a Pinwheel, one a Friendship Star, then a Log Cabin block, and a Churn Dash. Four Sailboat blocks would make a delightful mini quilt. This amazing design is traditionally pieced, no foundation or paper. Quilt swirls and pebbles for sea foam and beaches.

When laying out the blocks, the boats face one way, and some the other way. Notice quilted clouds in the sky, the waves in the water, and the stones down the pole!

Designer Bonnie Olaveson from Cotton Way patterned the quilt for 26 fat quarters, plus yardage for the crisp white background, to make a 83″ x 91″ finished quilt. Fabric used for this quilt is Bonnie and Camille’s Daysail.
