This pretty and colorful wedding ring style quilt has a new spin using a combination of the 54-40 or Fight quilt block and the Shoo Fly quilt block. If you’re up for a challenge this striking quilt is rewarding with a unique design at it’s prettiest using thirties reproduction prints.
The block is fun to make and using any fabric will be just as beautiful. Liz Porter pieced from as many reproduction prints as she could gather at a fabric exchange. Then modernised the quilt by adding four colorful borders in coordinating solids. You might have a collection of fat quarter reproduction prints in your stash or organize your own fabric exchange.
If you love quilt patterns using fat quarters, Emily’s Wedding Quilt is fat quarter friendly. The skill level is ‘Challenging’ however if you feel like trying something new, give it a go and follow the pattern instructions step by step. You’ll be needing 16 fat quarters to render this beautiful 115″ x 115″ quilt, made up of a 121 x 9″ blocks.
There are two versions available, and if you’re wanting to have fun with the block get the free version of the pattern, also know as Aunt Gracies Garden. The blocks are a little unique and if experienced would make a beautiful runner using three blocks across.
