Delightful in it’s simplicity, this strip pieced checkerboard quilt makes for a great project for any level of quilter. An all season style quilt, it looks warm and inviting something to cover up with by a warm fire on a chilly day. The blocks are ten inch square and the quilt can be made any size you choose. No matter which way you turn this quilt, it’s always the right way up!

The checkerboard blocks are entirely strip pieced. Use any color coordinates, but this cosy quilt is lush with rich tones providing the ultimate in color depth, with light squares to play up a twisting and turning basket-weave style. It’s a checkerboard with a little bit of a twist.

This quick country style quilt was meant to be included in Kim Diehls book ‘Homestyle Quilts Simple Patterns and Savory Recipes’. With only 96 pages to pack the collection of quilts, one quilt had to be removed. Lucky for us, this gorgeous quilt couldn’t be a part of the book and is being given as a free pattern. Included in the pattern download, is a table topper/candle mat to make with the left over fabric from the checkerboard quilt.
