A Basket Full Of Scraps For A Beautiful Chain Quilt
Choose Your Own Anchor Color To Define The Design
Put together any color and texture of fabric scraps to make this beautiful Irish Chain quilt. 18″ blocks for the triple chain are easy to sew and take up a pile of 2 1/2″ squares to display a traditional striking quilt.
To define the design the addition of a solid becomes the anchor color, against a white background. You could use almost every color found in scraps, the only extra needed is a solid for an accent color. This Irish Chain provides great inspiration for your next scrappy project.
The designer has chosen soft pink to wrap the colorful chains, with the negative space in white to showcase a quilted flower.
Choose any color for the anchor, to suit decor, or to accent colors in the scrappy blocks. Manu of Manoulest chose ‘Pewter’ grey for this stunning quilt, against Kona Snow for the background, which would fit almost any decor. To get started, lay out some scraps to create a block and form a color combo, then match with a potential solid.
The quilt, designed by Jessie Fincham of Messy Jessy, is a finished size of 90″ x 90″, and is available as a free pattern. Scroll through to see her beautiful finished quilt, and get her free pattern to start on your own scrappy Irish Chain.
