Bold and Bright Summer Blooms Table Topper
Bright and Cheerful Wild Flowers On Your Spring Table.
Let spring be full of quilting fun, it’s the nicest way to bring new fresh colors into your home. This Summer Blooms table topper will put a splash of color on your table. Stitch up these orange peel blocks are big and bold, the perfect project project to get started for Spring.
Commonly called Pumpkin Seed, bright jazzy prints make up personality of the petals while small colorful spots for the background fabric create a ‘hazy’ view of the field of blooms. The off-set blocks create movement along the length of the runner. Three straight lines down the middle of each peel create the perfect petal dimension.
The blocks are super quick and easy with no sashing, using the same print for the background to make the petals stand out. Display the prettiest fabrics on the petals. Using the template provided, you can stack and cut at least two or three at a time. You are going to need some fusible interfacing. Look for something really lightweight that has fusible on one side only, and being very thin, you can also cut several of these at a time.
This is a fun block using the fusible facing to make the ‘seed’ shapes. Stitch the fabric and facing together to make the petal. Then trim the edge really close without cutting the stitches. Lift the fabrics away from each other, cut a slit in the fusible and turn it right sides out. Reach in for the corner and I push the corners out on both ends, then run your finger along the seam so it stays nice and curvy. At this point, the fusible is on the outside. Position your petals and iron them on to keep in place. Use the same technique to make the center of the flower.
