A great way to make scrappy binding, and also for stripes, quick and easy. Bias binding is cut ‘crosswise’ of the fabric so its a little stretchy and perfect for finishing curved and scalloped edges.
Great tips from Connie
There are many ways to make bias binding, but I like this one most for scrappy binding! I’m using the stripes here to show that it’s great for that too. You can get around 5 yards from one fat quarter, depending on the size of strip you cut! The average sizes are 2 1/4” & 2 1/2
First cut is close to center, then work out to the ends. Connie Dumas suggests when sewing the strips together try to alternate the longer and shorter pieces when you stitch the lengths together as it gives a better overall result.
Use left over fabric. Around a fat quarter size (45.72 cm x 53.34 cm) will result in approximately 5 yards of binding in a flash using this method. Just right for a set of pot holders, mug rugs or table topper.
