This wonderful 12 sided table topper pattern is perfect for all your holiday feasts, or to freshen up your table decor anytime of year. The topper will come together in just one afternoon, and leaves you lots of room to play with fabric, colors, and even scraps. Your color pallets should have contrast, or make this very scrappy This design is a great reversible topper.
The topper which can also be made as a tree skirt, is not a circle but a 12 sided shape. Each of the wedges can be free motion quilted which is fun to do, and provides a lovely effect, or choose straight line quilting. Fabrics can be seasonal or pulled right from your stash. Use contrasting colors in dark chocolate, tan and cream, or mono-tone deep blue, light blue and white.
The pattern is designed to use a backing fabric, however I recently saw the backing made with strip piecing. Quilting Sisters Unravelled strip pieced 2 fabrics for the backing. No binding was made, instead a quilt sandwich with front and backing right side together. Simply stitch around the edges and leave an opening. Turn right side out, press and top stitch, closing the opening. Choose to display the strip pieced side or the the beautiful spinning star.
