Throw Pillows With Scattered Squares For A Dash Of Panache
Throw Pillows Bright And Welcoming With One Charm Square.
You could make these dashing throw pillows when the Bonnie & Camille’s Ruby line of fabric was around. Now not so easy to get, but a myriad of Moda fabrics to choose from to get an inviting look for your scatter pillows. This beautiful 18″ x 18″throw pillow was made using one mini charm pack and a bit of yardage.
This pattern can be hand or machine quilted. You could have a couple of throw pillows on your couch for the week end!
To prepare, the fabric you’ll need:
-1 Mini Charm Pack
-1/4 yard background fabric
-1/8 yard border fabric (55091-12)
-1/2 yard pillow backing fabric (55090-17)
-1/8 yard binding fabric (55092-17)
-20″ square piece of pillow backing fabric (this will be used for the pillow top sandwich)
-20″ square piece of quilt batting
and an 18″ pillow form.
You will need 36 sqaures from the mini charm pack. You might notice that there aren’t many solid colours. After following cutting instructions, you’ll be sewing white rectangle pieces to the mini charm squares and the solid white rectangle really sets off the colors and patterns.
Layout the squares. Sew the squares together in horizontal rows. Press seams in adjoining rows in opposite directions. Then sew the rows together.
Add the border.
Use a scalloped fabric for the binding. It’s very effective. The pillow cover top is done.
