Turn A Charm Pack Into A Scattered Leaves For Your Table Runner
Charm Pack Leaves For Your Next Table Runner
As the season changes a feel for something new comes about. Time strapped but looking for a new quilt venture, this table runner with scattered bronze and gold leaves is just perfect for Fall. One charm pack is all it takes to make the leaves. No need to stay with autumn colors or even an autumn theme. The leaves are so pretty, the table runner could be made for all year round. Simply match your decor. It’s just beautiful.
Follow the tutorial to make the leaves, then use the leaves quilt top with a regular table runner pattern to complete the project.
For the leaves Anjeannette used one charm pack by Sandy Gervais in a mix of autumn colors.
For each leaf you are going to need:
2 – off white 2 1/2” X 1 1/2” strips
6 – assorted printed 2 1/2” X 1 1/2” strips
1 – printed 2 1/2” X 2 1/2” square
1 – off white 2 1/2” X 2 1/2” square
6 – off white 1 1/2” X 1 1/2” squares
2 – off white diagonal pieces
1 – assorted printed 1 1/2” X 1 1/2” square for the very center
Overview of how the leaves were made:
Make a template to cut the to the tip of the leaf. Draw a square 2 1/2” X 2 1/2”. Measure over from one corner 1 1/4” and 1/4” down and put a dot. Measure the adjoining corner the same way and put a dot. Diagonally in the corner, measure 1/4” in and put a dot. Connect the dots. With your ruler, add a 1/4” seam allowance. This kite shape is what you will cut your patterned 2 1/2” square with.
The second template is for the off white triangles. Draw the same basic shape out on a 2 1/2” square grid. Use the bottom angled piece and add 1/4 seam allowance to it and cut it out. For each leaf tip piece, you need to cut two off white pieces of this shape. You could also use a RECS tool for the shape.
So this is how the first part of the leaf will take shape. Mmmmm… !
The block comes together here…
Anjeannette added a little more batting beneath the leaves for added dimension. Then stipple quilted the block to help make the leaves stand out. So pretty. The stems were hand stitched.
Charm Pack by Sandy Gervais Perfectly Seasoned here. Although this is not the exact pack that Anjeannette used. Anjeannettes mix was from way back 2012. You may need to add a little extra red for the bright red leaf.
