These sail boats are fun and easy simple machine piecing with squares and rectangles, no templates, and no paper piecing. You can piece the large sail using strips, or display a single fabric.
Designed to use fat eights which provides an amazing array of fabrics for these pretty boats. You could also use 2 layer cakes, if you have them on hand, or even using 2 1/2″ strips plus some larger pieces of fabric.
The fabrics used for the red white and blue sailboats is Smitten by Bonnie and Camille, a fun quilt for the 4th of July, and right through Summer.
The feature pattern is made using the Butterfields fabric line, use similar or choose your own. If gifting for a man, fabrics to suit the recipients decor would be just perfect!
The quilt, one of the first designed by Margot Languedoc, together with her daughter Jennifer Languedoc, finishes at 58” by 67 1/4”. Imagine the beautiful projects that can be made from these delightful boat blocks!
