Sew Your Own Patchwork Terry Pot Holders

Extra Special Pot Holders With Thick Terry Backing

Cheerful, nostalgic prints, tiny florals, ginghams, and playful motifs  make even the simplest patchwork feel special. Because a pot holder is small, you can enjoy mixing prints freely without overthinking color balance. Each square becomes a tiny showcase for the fabric’s vintage charm. It’s an ideal project for using up small scraps or charm squares.

Terry towelling contrasts nicely with patchwork cotton, adds a soft, absorbent layer that gives the pot holder extra grip especially when lifting hot casserole dishes from the oven, or a large turkey roaster.  Repurpose a clean hand towel or bath towel, giving new life to something already on hand. It’s easy to purchase a large terry towel where there are lots of colors to choose from to compliment patchwork prints.

Amanda Niehauser of Jedi Crafts says to Bb sure it’s 100% cotton and pre wash to remove any residue.

Sew up a couple of pot holders in an afternoon, layering a piece of heat-resistant batting or cotton wadding between the patchwork and towelling to provide enough structure and protection from heat.
