Strips of Fabric Put Christmas Presents On The Table

Make The Bows With Half Square Triangles.

Choosing a palette of holiday fabrics in bright reds, deep greens, metallics, the present-blocks give the runner its cheerful holiday feel.

Begin with preparing your fabric pieces for the gift blocks. Each “present” is made up of a simple combination of rectangles and squares that form the box and ribbon. Construct the gift-block units, arrange them in rows, and join into the runner format.

Once all the blocks are sewn, lay them out to decide the best order for color balance. This is where the fun of arranging comes in, alternating bright and subtle prints or varying ribbon colors to create movement and interest along the length of the runner.

The pattern is designed with the entire block layed out and color coded for easy fabric desicions and placement, very easy to follow. Present boxes are made up of two rectangles 3 1/2 ” x 6 1/2″, with a fabric strip between to create the ribbon. Half square triangles create the jaunty yuletide bows.
