This ten minute table runner is not only for Christmas. Make for any time of the year. Showcase medium to large prints. Add a contrasting border to enhance the colors and textures! The first fabric are Christmas and this pattern is ideal to keep in your back pocket to make up a really nice gift at the last minute.
Fabric requirements are minimal. You’ll need 1/3 yard focus fabric, 1/2 yard border fabric. Then all you need is about ten to fifteen minutes!
Here’s an overview to start planning:
Focus/Main Print: CUT a rectangle 12″ x width of fabric (approx 44″)
Border Fabric: CUT a rectangle 18″ x width of fabric
With right sides together stitch both sides using a 1/4″ seam allowance, forming a tube. Turn right sides.Press. It’s optional to stich in the ditch but that doeas add another five minutes to the project.
Trim ends evenly. Zig zag or serge edge. Fold runner in half lengthwise. Stitch. Trim corner to reduce bulk. Turn right side out. Press.
Tack or sew down the edge of the runner.
Press well and repeat for the other end.
