This quilt pattern is often referred to as Stacked Coins, and there are many variations on it. Two color projects always work out well and are so easy to color coordinate. Alternating red and white is pretty and eye catching, and can be used for any time of year. If using fabric with fun prints that you would like to show off, stick with simple straight line quilting 1/8” from the seams in a contrasting thread.
The pattern, designed by Taunja Kelvington of Carried Away Quilting, requires 6 fat quarters and finishes at 17” x 60 1/2”. Take measurements for your coffee station and easily make it smaller by cutting three strips from each of your six fat quarters, resulting in a runner measuring 36 1/2” long. Easily customize the the runner to fit any length. Use a fun print for the border such as ‘Quilt Shop Names’ from Moda’s Sweetwater II.
Make these fun coasters to match. Two tone red and white is timeless or make the set in any fabric you like. Add a little lace to embellish the coaster. A button adds a little extra charm.
