The block usually features a round or softly angled ornament shape pieced from small scraps, but a simple appliqué techinique lets you avoid curved piecing for a perfect finish. Use traditional Christmas colors for the ornament in red, green, gold, and white, but the pattern works in any palette. You can use classic prints, modern blenders, metallic touches, or even leftover charm squares. Make a set of three in different colors.
