Gift Wrapped In Poinsettiers

Green Ribbons and Red Bows For The Holidays
Create a strong seasonal piece with Christmas colors, or select a different fabric palette to use year-round. Blue/teal to give it a fresh, non-seasonal feel set against a neutral background, a great project for contrast color play.
Jan Saum Jividen, a member of Missouri Star Quilt Co. shared her amazing finished quilt (above)
While the pattern could be adapted for non-holiday fabrics, Poinsettier lends itself to Christmas colours and themes with vivid ribbons and bows make it ideal as a festive statement piece.
Fabric colors to contrast the ribbon vs background makes a striking motif . If fabric tones are too similar, the “ribbon” effect might get lost.
A stash buster or for leftover strips since the “ribbon” portions are strips that intersect, mix print strips and keep the value consistent rather than the exact fabric. Use smaller scraps for the smaller version to test fabrics or make a quick gift version, it’s a delight to see the poinsettier emerge with each block.
The Gift Wrapped designed by Majorie Rhine includes instructions for multiple sizes including placemat and table-runner versions, is available for purchase.
