Make this adorable baby quilt using just four fabrics. Start by choosing a cute motif, then add a solid, a dot and a stripe. Zoology owls are too quaint. The print is also available with pink owls! Have fun with these new trendy Zoology owls in purple, magenta, orange and yellow. Choose which color owl you would like to feature and use that as your inspiration. Then choose one solid fabric being the exact match to the one you’ve chosen, to play up the owl.

To make the 16 patch, you’ll be cutting 3 1/2″ x 16″ strips. If using the same prints mentioned in the tutorial follow exact colors. Or else dig into your stash to find stripes, small dots and a solid to match the motif. When matching up fabric I always fold the fabric to get a similar width that I am going to cut. By putting the fabric together in a row and stepping back a little it helps to see a nice color flow.

It’s so easy to choose the layout once you sew 16″ strips together and get a variety of strip sets. Cut into 3 1/2″ squares and shuffle the squares around unitl you love the look.

The starting point is with the Zoology owl or use any owl print that you’ve fallen in love with. Matching up with the remaining three fabrics is quite easy after that. Cut strips, arrange, sew together and cut again to 3 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ squares.
