Quilted Tea Cozy With A Pocket

Quilted Tea Cozy So Pretty

Tea pots and quilting just go together. The idea of a tea cozy is to keep your tea piping hot. What better than a quilted tea cozy to do just that, since the cozy is layered with insulating fleece. What a great extra, to add a pocket! I wouldn’t have thought of using the pocket for teabags. I was thinking I might put one or two teaspoons in the pocket. Or else, one or two napkins. Either way, the pocket just adds to the tea cozy.

To wash simply throw the cozy in the washing machine.

Tea in a tea pot.  This pattern is sized to fit a standard size china tea pot. The pattern is so easy, all you need do is print out the pattern and adjust the size if need be. I usually make a try out using paper towels for sizing.

You only need small ¼ and ½ yard fabric cuts, so dive into your scraps. I just love the little applique on the pocket.(there’s a pattern download for the tea pot applique too)!

You’ll notice the pattern calls for rick rack. This is optional. Depending on your what you have in your stash, make it with or without the rick rack. Somehow, I messed up with my rick rack as it was pulling slightly. Be sure to ‘lay’ your rick rack and stitch without tugging. Just guide gently as you stitch.
