Scrappy Patchwork Potholders With Pockets
A Colorful Mini Quilt For Your Kitchen
Patchwork potholders are super cute providing a country kitchen atmosphere, and these are great for scrap busting. Make it totally scrappy, bright and colorful, or choose fabric for the perfect decor match. They’re useful with pockets to slip your hand in, and pretty enough to lay it on the family table to serve a hot dish.
Raid the scrap basket for pieces that will render 2 /12″ squares, or find 6 charm squares which can be stacked and cut in half twice to give you 24 x 2 1/2″ squares. It’s fun to cut charm squares into mini charms. When you lay them out, it’s as though you have totally different fabrics, and they all coordinate perfectly!
For the pocket piece, two of the fabrics will not show so any piece of scrap fabric can be put to good to use for that.
Lay out the squares in 4 rows of six, and arrange them till you love the design. The designer, Caroline from Sew Can She, has a great idea to arrange the squares on a 12″ x 17″ cutting mat, or a similar size, so you can easily move everything to the sewing machine without messing up the arrangement!
Patchwork Potholders is available as free pattern, a fun little weekend project. They sew up quick, and make great gifts too!
