The Best Scrap Pile Eliminating Pattern Dancing Diamonds

Use Scraps or Choose Your Fabric.

Whether you use Dancing Diamonds for projects from art quilts to tote bags, table runners or throws, it’s the best scrap buster and so much creative fun, you can’t leave it alone. A great way to use your stash and create something gorgeous from seemingly useless little scraps.

I must admit I struggle a little putting scraps to good use. Some scraps just can’t be used and get thrown back into the basket, until the next attempt to use it in another project. Back into the basket it goes. However the Dancing Diamonds idea is so easy and turns any scraps into fun. I love the idea of  sorting the scraps into colors and similar shades to create cascade using this technique!

The pattern is so pretty, make it up using your choice of fabric. You can plan out this pattern with colors and gradients. Use larger left over pieces of fabric, or buy some yardage to get the flow of colors you like. Use the panel of diamonds to make a table runner or even a tote, tote pattern here, and beautiful throws. If you have an addiction to beautiful fabrics and have tons stashed in your house, this is the best pattern to showcase them all!  You don’t even have to use much of each. In fact a 1″, 1 1/2″, 2″, 2 1/2″ strip is all you need of each piece.

Watch this short video that got me sold. A fun design to use over and over.

I love the fact that you can call a scrappy quilt a jewel box. It looks complicated but as you will see in the video, it’s turned out to be so simple. It’s fun and trendy, but can be as classic or traditional as you like. Putting scrap pieces of fabric is creative therapy, and look at what comes of it. Use the template provided with the pattern to make finished size of 15 1/2″ x 33 1/2″.
