A Candle Mat Or Mug Rug.

I love the mix of this block. A fun project that can made to use as a candle mat with rich colors to compliment your decor, and would be great using holiday colors. Or use bright scrappy prints for a mug rug.

 

The ‘granny square’ is made up of 2 1/2″ squares which can be cut from scraps, or use left over jelly strips. The hexagon star mat is pieced and cutting is instructed with templates. Using an easy template method the dark rose is cut from the off set diamond shape. Turn the template over and cut another set of dark rose. Color illustrated diagrams make the pattern very easy to follow.

The interesting shape of this design for a candle mat contributes to its charm. Six sides instead of four. Use playful prints for a kitchen quilt. The design could take on a theme for English tea. It’s very pretty and quite versatile.
