Eye Catching Reindeer Throw Pillow
Arty Reindeer Pillow Creates A Feature In The Room
This paper pieced Reindeer is so eye catching. The reindeer was hand drawn first… beautiful! … then made up into the paper piecing pattern. While this might seem like the obvious route, it all started with the idea of the reindeer, and how it has transformed into being so mesmerizing.
The red and green provide a fantastic contrast. The red reindeer is electric. There’s a stillness about the reindeer, it’s mesmerizing. The antlers sending Happy Holidays wishes, and also displaying the reindeers names, Dasher and Dancer, and Donner and Blitzen… just like the Christmas carol! Not forgetting the Merry Christmas wish on the right antler. It’s just gorgeous!
Fabric scraps are perfect fo this project, however fussy cutting the antlers to dosplay the message are part of the success of this Reindeer pillow. Fabric that can be fussy cut for this project is a win for sure. The quilted circles around the snowflakes print provides it’s own applique.
The pattern is “beginners” level and the download provides the reindeer templates. However if you’re not too familiar yet with paper piecing the designer Julianna Gąsiorowska from Sewing Under Rainbow suggests this tutorial to get you started.
The deer can be made with any fabric and be used as a throw pillow for anytime of the year. The original idea was for the Reindeer to be a spring deer. The design can be used for any season or just for decor.
