Sweet Christmas Trees Quilt Made With A Jelly Roll
Make This Juniper Trees Quilt With Diamonds.
If you are afraid of sewing with diamonds, it’s easier than one might think, and diamonds are just perfect for the sweetest little trees on this Christmas quilt. If you’re confident with 1/4″ seams this little quilt is a breeze to stitch and put on display for the holidays.
A jelly roll project or something to work on with your favorite stash, or reds, greens and ivories for a more traditional Christmas version. This pattern has detailed hints and tips on how to work with 60° angles. Simple strip piecing and a few important hints and anyone can make a simple angle block like this one. If you’re not too comfortable with angles, there’s a little room for trimming the pieced strips, making it so much easier when the pieced strips are sewn together to form the tree.
Choose to make the top with or without sashing. You’ll be surprised how quick the quilt sews up. Taunja Kelvington from Carried Away Quilting chose Fig Tree Quilts pebble/cream criss cross rather than the floral as shown on the pattern image, and for the quilting, a swirly four leaf clover type of design.
The designer Joanna from Fig Tree Quilts offers tips for working with these pieces throughout her pattern, and is a terrific way to practice working with diamonds. Using jelly strips or 2 1/2″ strips from your stash, the tree can be totally scrappy. There are two finished sizes 57.75″ x 73″ and 53.5″ x 68.75″.
