Chicago Geese Quilt Blocks Create A Window

A Flying Geese Block Pieced Like A Log Cabin
Combine the classic geometry of flying geese triangles with a log cabin layout to create a twelve inch block. It’s interesting fabric placement with darks and lights for crisp even units with minimal fabric waste.
Traditionally piece a Chicago geese quilt block by closing in a half square triangle with two rectangles. To complete the first Flying Geese corner add another square, fold over and cut. Repeat the process to reach a 12 inch block.

The layout repeats beautifully, it’s easy to achieve a professional-looking quilt top, one that looks far more intricate than it really is. It’s also a great way to play with contrast, pairing bold prints for the geese against soft, neutral backgrounds gives the block depth and personality.
Use a few blocks for a striking table runner or stitch up a whole quilt creating the finished design by changing positioning of the blocks. Make four and it looks like a gigantic window of sorts.
