Scrappy Love Jelly Roll Fabric For The Love Of Quilting
Scrappy Love Jelly Roll Quilt Soulful Blossoms
A stunning quilt displays a shimmer of color from jelly roll strips. One was used that resulted in two quilt patterns. The first one being ‘Scrappy Love’. The second quilt is made from jelly roll fabric, Amy Butler’s Soul Blossoms, and a handful of fat quarters from the same line, and then appropriately named ‘Soulful’. The ‘Scrappy Love’ pattern made from one large Love block, was later made into nine blocks to make a 65″ quilt.
‘Scrappy Love’ was kind of made up as it happened. The jelly roll strips were cut in half so they were about 22″ long and just randomly sewn together into one long strip. Kona Ash strips were cut just 1 1/2″ wide. Then by sewing round & round, starting each new printed row where the last one was left resulted in a striking colorful quilt. So the entire quilt was just one really large block.
Inspiring the next project to make the same block with jelly roll strips, making nine in total to make the 65″ square quilt top.
Colorful, a solid strip in Kona Coal makes colors pop.
Nine blocks in total, the quilt top measures, 65″ square unfinished.
