A Fun Jelly Roll Quilt With Four Patches Plus An X and O

Combined They Make A Truly Amazing Design

A pretty quilt putting summer prints in full display, the design is simply made up of two simple blocks, A 16 patch and an X! Use a favorite jelly roll, or 2 /12″ scraps, plus a couple of orphan charm squares!

This quilt looks complicated, but it’s totally a scrappy four patch, and super quick using precuts! Four x 4 patch blocks become the prettiest 16 patch, and together with an X’s and O’s block, a beautiful design emerges.

For best results choose a jelly roll with fewer light fabrics, or sort through left over jelly strips and stash for same. You’ll need thirty two 2 1/2″ strips of medium to dark value. A white or light neutral defines the design, and features the X block, or choose any that goes well with the prints, and to suit your decor.

The quilt is striking in almost any fabric combination! This one made by Rhonda of Sew It Began, used 30’s reproduction fabrics.

A border is hardly needed, simply bind, however add a border of your choice and make it your own. DHanke of Quilting Board, used a bunch of 2 inch squares leftover from the pieced border of a previous project.
