Heart Shaped Oven Mitts Are The Perfect Pair

Heart oven mitts are always a win, and even better, heart shaped oven mitts where you simply slip your hand in and away to the table looking good. The unique curved pockets form the ‘glove’ but there’s more to it. The pockets add another dimension to showcase the most appealing fabric combo’s. Have fun mixing and matching fun kitchen fabrics. You won’t get away with making one. The second one is a reverse of the first to make a perfect pair. This might be the time where your oven mitts become the feature piece in the kitchen!

The heart mitts featured in this pattern are fashioned with the Recollection collection by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics. Choose any fabric for the pair. Make matching mitts and for extra pizazz alternate the fabrics for a cute coordinated pair.

The mitts have a layer of thermal batting on the back of each pocket. For extra heat protection, add another thermal layer and simply increase the width of the binding strips on the pockets to accommodate the additional thickness.

The loop is positioned at the bottom of the heart. A great safety feature to not have the loop exposed to a hot element. But that out of the way, the loop done like that is really trendy!

Each mitt finishes at approximately 9″ wide x 7″ high.

No stopping at the mitts. For the most adorable set make a matching apron with a heart shaped bib. The apron will spark your creativity since the pattern suggests fussy cutting your chosen fabric to showcase your favorite piece on the apron bib, and also the skirt front.

To add, it’s totally fun and flirty!

The secret to the design is the fussy cutting. It is essential to the professional finish. Have fun playing around with templates and deciding which part of the fabric takes your heart. While in the process be sure to match the bib to the skirt right through the waistband, and that the pocket blends into the skirt with only a ruffled top to give it away.

Use the fabric, one and the same to match those mitts that have just stolen your heart. This particular print has adorable rose emblems to fussy cut as part of your design. A clever co ordinate here using Fairisle Hearts in Turkois for the waistband and ruffles. Then a classic finish with pretty diamond quilting on the bib with closely matching color thread.
